Thousands Attend Belmont Day Despite Rain and Absence of Triple Crown Contender

A crowd of thousands gathered at the Saratoga Racecourse on Saturday for Belmont Day, braving rain and uncertainty about a top contender’s presence. Fans set up picnics, weighed their odds, and placed bets amidst the excitement.

“It’s been pretty good, you know, the weather hasn’t been the best,” said one attendee, while others expressed enthusiasm for the event. Kimberly Moreau from Massachusetts noted that the rain had cleared, making it possible to enjoy the day without umbrellas or ponchos.

For many, Belmont Day is more than just racing – it’s about food and atmosphere. Jakaki Townsend of Burnt Hills highlighted the delicious options available, saying, “The food… the whole, the race just be here all the time.”

While construction on Belmont Park’s revamping is set to be completed in 2026, officials have yet to announce where next year’s stakes will be held. Fans expressed their mixed feelings about this change.

Despite these challenges, fans enjoyed the event and looked forward to it despite the weather issues. The paid attendance at the racecourse for Belmont Day was 46,243.
