Three charged with supporting banned Palestine Action group

Three people have been charged with showing support for Palestine Action, a proscribed terror group in England and Wales. Jeremy Shippam, 71, Judit Murray, 71, and Fiona Maclean, 53, are due to appear at court on September 16. They were arrested during a protest in Westminster on July 5.

The charges are punishable by up to 14 years in prison, and the group’s supporters face potential consequences if they attend Saturday’s planned protest in London’s Parliament Square. Commander Dominic Murphy said anyone planning to show support should consider the risks involved.

The High Court recently ruled that Palestine Action’s ban should be reviewed after the group broke into an RAF base in Oxfordshire and caused £7m of damage. The Home Secretary had previously announced plans to proscribe the group following a protest at the same base, calling it “disgraceful” and citing its history of violent protests.
