Three tankers carrying over 2 million barrels of Russian oil have been refused permission to dock at ports in China due to new US sanctions. The Huihai Pacific, Mermar, and Olia were added to the list of US-sanctioned vessels after the US Treasury Department determined they were part of Russia’s “shadow fleet”. The tankers were set to arrive at Chinese ports carrying around 770,000, 755,000, and 709,000 tons of oil. Shandong Port Group refused docking and unloading due to the sanctions. Another Russian tanker, Cool Rover, is also idling off the coast of Portugal with a shipment of natural gas.
