Tiger Woods led his team, New York Golf Club (NYGC), to their first-ever victory in the Tiger Golf League against Jupiter Links on Tuesday. With a 10-3 win, NYGC jumped into fourth place with just two weeks left before the playoffs.
The match was largely one-sided, with NYGC winning seven of nine triples holes. However, drama unfolded during Tiger Woods’ second shot on the 13th hole. Standing 199 yards from the pin, Woods took out his 56-degree club and hit it straight down the middle 100 yards. Initially, he thought the caddie had said 99 yards, leading him to choose the wrong club.
Despite the miscommunication, Woods’ teammates Tom Kim and Kevin Kisner are still chuckling about the incident. The replay showed that the caddie was indeed saying “99,” but it’s likely he meant 199 yards due to the caddie box’s positioning on an actual golf course.
