Charlie Woods, the 16-year-old son of golf legend Tiger Woods, has won his first American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) event at the Team TaylorMade Invitational in Bowling Green, Florida. The victory marks a significant milestone for Charlie, who follows in his father’s footsteps and claims the title after a strong performance on the Black Course at Streamsong Resort.
Charlie began the final round one shot behind Luke Colton but recovered to post an impressive six-under-par 66, topping the leaderboard with a score of 15 under. His win is a marked improvement from his previous best result, which was a share of 25th place at the Junior Invitational at Sage Valley in March.
Tiger Woods, who has been absent from tournaments since undergoing surgery to repair a ruptured Achilles tendon in March, will likely miss the rest of the PGA Tour season. However, Charlie’s win is a promising sign for his golfing career, and he will look to build on this success with his father in the upcoming PNC Championship. The younger Woods has competed with Tiger in the last five editions of the event, finishing runners-up twice before.
