According to The New York Times, Chew will join other tech leaders like Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk at the dais to witness Trump being sworn in as the 47th president.
The Supreme Court has indicated it is likely to uphold the law passed by Congress with bipartisan support in April 2024, which requires TikTok’s Chinese-owned parent company to sell the app. In response, TikTok is reportedly preparing to shut down its US operations. However, Trump’s administration had previously tried to ban the app during his first term in office.
Now, as Trump prepares to take office, he may explore options to suspend enforcement of the ban, potentially through an executive order. This development could have significant implications for the future of TikTok and other social media apps in the US.
