Timothée Chalamet underwent a transformation to portray Bob Dylan in the 2019 film “A Complete Unknown”. To accurately capture the legendary folk singer’s distinctive voice, Chalamet worked with renowned voice coach John Jurgensen.
According to Jurgensen, the process involved months of sessions to achieve the desired tone and cadence. The actor spent hours listening to Dylan’s recordings and studying his delivery, before practicing and perfecting his own interpretation.
Chalamet has credited Jurgensen with helping him develop a deeper understanding of Dylan’s vocal style, allowing him to bring authenticity to the role. The result was a critically acclaimed performance that earned Chalamet a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor.
