Timothée Chalamet’s Oscars Obsession May Be Backfiring

Oscar losses can be tough on celebrities. Just ask Leonardo DiCaprio and Lady Gaga. However, Timothée Chalamet doesn’t need an Oscar win to prove himself. With two films nominated for best picture under his belt, Chalamet has already achieved a significant milestone in his career.

Despite this, Chalamet was nominated for Best Actor at the Oscars this year, losing to Adrien Brody. His new film, Marty Supreme, is being released at Christmas and is expected to do well at the Oscars. To prepare for the role of a professional ping pong player, Chalamet spent “months and months” learning the sport.

While this level of preparation may be beneficial for the film’s success, it might not be the right lesson to learn from his Oscar loss. Spending so much time immersing himself in roles can take a toll on one’s mental health and doesn’t always lead to awards. Even Jeremy Strong and Kieran Culkin, who were both praised by critics but went home empty-handed at the Oscars, attributed their losses to various factors.

Perhaps Chalamet should take a cue from his own success with films like Wonka, which appealed to a wide audience. Coasting on his charisma could be beneficial for his mental health and allow him to enjoy other aspects of life. With Marty Supreme shaping up to be a special film, it’s essential for Chalamet to find a balance between dedication to his craft and taking care of himself.
