A new analysis may have ended a long-standing debate about small tyrannosaur fossils found in the Western United States. According to researchers, these diminutive dinosaurs likely belonged to Nanotyrannus lancensis, a distinct species within the tyrannosaur family. Paleontologists have been puzzling over this discovery for 40 years, but experts say it’s now clear that these tiny T-Rex fossils were not “teenage” versions of the iconic dinosaur.
