Tom Brady’s agent has called a report about Matthew Stafford visiting him at his Montana home “inaccurate”. The claim originated from Fox Sports, where Jordan Schultz broke the story that Brady hosted Stafford on a recruiting visit in Montana. However, after an encounter between Schultz and NFL Media reporter Ian Rapoport, Tom Pelissero tweeted that Brady’s agent Don Yee disputed the report.
Yee’s statement seems unusual given that it was a report from his own client. The fact that Fox Sports employs Brady adds credibility to the original story, suggesting that Yee is nervous about potential consequences. While tampering in football is not uncommon, a visit to Brady’s home could be seen as a blatant violation of rules.
The Rams have yet to comment on whether Stafford’s visit to Brady’s home was authorized. However, coach Sean McVay’s recent remarks suggest that the team wanted to give Stafford an opportunity to assess their offer against other teams’ deals. The complexity of this situation makes it challenging for the Rams to persuade Stafford to stay with the current team.
The NFL’s tampering rules are designed to prevent exactly this kind of complication, making it harder for Brady and the Raiders to sway Stafford away from his current team without violating league regulations.
