Tom Cruise has received the US Navy’s top civilian honour, the Distinguished Public Service Award, for his “outstanding contributions to the Navy and the Marine Corps” through his work in films like Top Gun, Born on the Fourth of July, A Few Good Men, and the Mission: Impossible franchise.
The ceremony took place in London, where Cruise is currently working. In a statement, the Navy praised Cruise’s efforts in increasing public awareness and appreciation for highly trained personnel and their sacrifices while in uniform.
However, when pictures of Tom posing with the medal surfaced on social media, many users couldn’t help but comment on how he appears to be ageing. The internet dubbed him “Bro finally aged” and joked about his new look.
Some even failed to recognise Tom Cruise, with one user saying he’s “almost not recognizable.” Another compared him to actor Jason Bateman, sparking humorous comparisons online. On the other hand, some speculated that Cruise might have been taking steroids or experiencing a midlife crisis.
Despite the lighthearted teasing, fans are eager for more of Tom Cruise’s upcoming projects, including Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning and his supernatural thriller Deeper, set to release in 2025.
