UFC fighters Tony Ferguson and Dillon Danis have expressed confidence that their highly anticipated bout will still take place, despite the Global Fight League (GFL) canceling its first two events. The scheduled fight was set to be held in May as part of the league’s launch weekend.
However, GFL founder Darren Owen announced on Wednesday that the organization is working on a solution and believes they can still make it happen for June 15-16. Ferguson had initially stated his determination to fight Danis, while Danis expressed frustration over missing out on another bout with KSI.
Ferguson took to Instagram after a late-night training session to reiterate his commitment to the fight, saying “Great practice. Fââ bet it’s on. Dillon gon’ get it.” Danis also updated fans on Twitter, stating “Just got word, don’t believe everything you hear. My fight with Tony Ferguson is still on.”
Owen assured fans that despite a setback due to financial issues, GFL will continue to push forward and make the event happen. The organization’s new dates for June 15-16 aim to minimize disruptions and keep the fight on track.
