Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 is a remake of the classic PS2-era skateboarding games THP 3 and THPS 4. While it remains true to its roots, the game has made some notable changes.
In an interview with Iron Galaxy, the developers behind the game, we touched on one of the most interesting changes – the removal of the pissing man from the Canada level. According to Kurt Tillmanns, the director of THPS 3+4, the character was removed due to better bladder control and not being part of a grand conspiracy.
The changes have sparked controversy among players, particularly with regards to how the levels work in the remake. The game no longer features open-world gameplay like THPS 4, instead adopting a two-minute timer system similar to THPS 3. However, players can customize the length of the timer up to an hour.
Tillmanns explained that the studio’s goal was to create a game that combined the best elements of both classic games. The changes were made to provide a unique experience rather than just a predictable remaster. Levels like Waterpark and Pinball were added instead of Chicago, which was cut due to prioritizing community consensus.
The addition of Eric Sparrow, a character from Tony Hawk’s Underground, has also been confirmed. While it is not a full remake, the developers are aware of their fanbase and are working on post-launch updates.
Iron Galaxy stated that they will keep an eye on player feedback and make changes accordingly. With the removal of a joke in the Waterpark level already planned, fans can look forward to further updates and improvements for THPS 3+4.
