Top 10 Priciest US Homes Sold This Year

A record-breaking $96 million mansion in Southern California tops the list of priciest home sales this year, according to Redfin data provided to Forbes. The five-bedroom, ten-bathroom cliffside mansion features sweeping views of the Pacific and three acres of property.

Other notable mentions include a ski resort town in Aspen, Colorado, sold for $77 million; a Brooklyn neighborhood in New York, sold for $75 million; and Miami, Florida, where a waterfront home was purchased for $72.2 million.

The median sale price of luxury homes increased by 9% to an all-time high this summer, driven by demand from cash-rich buyers. The top 10 most expensive homes on Redfin’s list range in price from $62 million to $96 million, with the average price being $70 million.

Redfin data also shows that sales of typical homes slid 3.4% to their lowest level in a decade, while high-end home sales grew 0.2%. The luxury market is expected to continue growing, despite an increase in listings, thanks to the abundance of all-cash buyers.
