Marvel Studios introduced a new era of complex and powerful villains with Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. From notable antagonists like Gravik, Dar-Benn, and Kang the Conqueror to formidable foes like The Void and Wilson Fisk’s Kingpin, this phase saw its fair share of iconic baddies. Here are the top 14 MCU villains from Phase 5, ranked from weakest to strongest.
At number 14 is Ravonna Renslayer, a Time Variance Authority judge who became Kang’s ally in Loki season 2. Although she showed great development as an antagonist, her future remains uncertain due to Kang’s removal from the MCU. Coming in at number 13 is Dar-Benn, a Kree villain with Quantum Bands, whose underwhelming presence led to The Marvels becoming Marvel Studios’ lowest-grossing movie yet.
Number 12 is Thaddeus Ross, aka Red Hulk, who was introduced as Captain America: Brave New World’s unexpected hero. Although he could have been the main antagonist, his lack of screen time left fans craving more. At number 11 is Samuel Sterns, also known as Leader, a failed attempt to accurately depict Marvel Comics’ character in the MCU.
Rounding out the lower half are Gravik (number 10), Parker Robbins (number 9) and Hood, Kang the Conqueror (number 8), Mephisto (number 7), Death (number 6), Cassandra Nova (number 5), Wilson Fisk’s Kingpin (number 4), The High Evolutionary (number 3), Benjamin Poindexter’s Bullseye (number 2) and finally, the most powerful of all – The Void at number one.
Each of these villains brought something unique to Phase 5, ranging from unexpected heroes like Red Hulk to terrifying antagonists like Kingpin. With their impressive powers, memorable performances, and sometimes lackluster screen time, these villains solidified Phase 5’s reputation for delivering complex and thought-provoking storylines.
