Former New York Jets wide receiver Davante Adams is now on the market after being released by his team. The 32-year-old veteran still has plenty of football left in him, and several teams are already showing interest in his services.
Adams finished the 2024 season with 85 receptions for 1,063 yards and eight touchdowns, making a strong case for himself as a reliable No. 2 receiver who can help move the chains. With his impressive route-running skills and ability to separate from defenders, teams are looking to add him to their roster.
Here are five teams that could make sense for Adams:
A return to the Green Bay Packers could be an option for Adams. Although young receivers Christian Watson, Jayden Reed, and Romeo Doubs have shown promise, none have emerged as a WR1 in 2024. With Adams back on board, quarterback Jordan Love would have a veteran leader who already knows coach Matt LaFleur’s offense.
The Los Angeles Rams are also shopping for a No. 2 receiver to pair with Puka Nacua. Adams’ polished route-running skills and ability to work the middle of the field would make him an ideal fit. Coach Sean McVay has a history of working well with experienced players, which could help Adams thrive.
The Kansas City Chiefs are in need of a reliable target to complement Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce. While Rashee Rice is expected to return from injury next season, the team could use another veteran playmaker who can win in the middle of the field. Adams would fit nicely into this role.
Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has been looking to add more playmakers to his offense, which struggled to score down the stretch last season. With George Pickens already on the roster, a receiver like Adams could help keep the chains moving and give the defense some much-needed rest.
The San Francisco 49ers are also in the market for a receiver who is familiar with coach Kyle Shanahan’s system. Having played in Green Bay, Adams would provide an experienced pass-catcher and elite route-runner to the perimeter of the 49ers’ offense.
