Tornado Watch Issued for North Texas, Oklahoma

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for parts of North Texas and Oklahoma, including Dallas-Fort Worth. The watch is in effect from 11am on Monday to 6pm and covers all of North Texas counties. The advisory warns of “a few tornadoes likely” along with scattered hail up to 2 inches in size and wind gusts reaching speeds of up to 70mph.

Additionally, a flood watch has been issued for areas northwest of Dallas-Fort Worth through 3pm on Monday. Heavy rain in recent days may lead to an additional 2-3 inches of rainfall along the Red River. Showers are expected to continue overnight but will taper off by Tuesday morning.

For voters heading to polls on Election Day, a chance of 30% showers is predicted for Tuesday morning with clearing skies later in the day. The weather forecast also includes periods of dry and pleasant weather on Wednesday and Thursday before more showers move in.

Staff writers Lana Ferguson and Julia will be covering the latest updates from Dallas-Fort Worth and beyond.
