Tory Lanez Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison After Shooting Megan Thee Stallion

Rapper Tory Lanez has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after being found guilty of shooting singer Megan Thee Stallion in 2020. In August 2023, Lanez was given the long sentence after a highly publicized trial. The incident occurred at Kylie Jenner’s pool party in Hollywood Hills, where Lanez allegedly directed expletives at Megan and her friend before shooting her.

Lanez had pleaded not guilty to the charges, but the jury delivered a guilty verdict in December 2022. During the trial, Megan testified about the traumatic experience she endured after being shot, which left her with injuries requiring surgery.

The Grammy-winning singer has since spoken out about the incident and its aftermath, stating that it led to depression and anxiety but also sparked a journey of healing through journaling, prayer, and finding a new perspective. Megan has said she wants to be viewed as a “survivor” rather than a “victim.”

In recent months, Lanez’s life in prison has been marked by another incident – he was stabbed 14 times by a fellow inmate on May 12. Despite the violent attack, Lanez is reportedly recovering well and remains optimistic.

Lanez has continued to release music from behind bars, including an album titled “Peterson” released in March 2025. He previously shared an Instagram post announcing his rehabilitation efforts and vowing not to let jail time define him. However, he maintains that he did not commit the crime for which he was convicted.
