Toyota has unveiled a revamped version of its first electric SUV, the bZ4X, ahead of its European launch later this year. The updated model boasts significant improvements, including a larger battery for increased range, faster charging capabilities, and improved towing capacity.
The new bZ4X features a revised facelift, with a stylish update to the exterior design. Inside, the interior has been completely redesigned with a new 14-inch infotainment and instrument display panel. The vehicle also now comes equipped with a battery pre-conditioning feature as standard, allowing for faster charging in cold weather.
One notable upgrade is the addition of a route planning function that automatically selects the best charging station. This feature will be available through an over-the-air (OTA) update for current bZ4X drivers.
The updated model offers two battery options, 57.7kWh and 73.1kWh, with the larger battery available in both front-wheel drive (FWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) configurations. The FWD version will have a towing capacity of up to 1,500kg, while the AWD model boasts a combined WLTP driving range of up to 573km.
The new bZ4X is expected to be one of three electric vehicles arriving in Europe by the end of 2025, joining the Toyota C-HR+ and Urban Cruiser models. US specs have yet to be revealed, but with an estimated range of up to 252 miles on the EPA rating scale, the updated model promises to deliver impressive performance.
