Trader Joe’s Expansion Brings More Locations in 2025

Trader Joe’s, the cult-favorite grocery store chain, is expanding to at least 12 new locations across the country in 2025. Three of these outposts are set to open in Southern California’s San Fernando Valley region, including Tarzana, Northridge, and Sherman Oaks.

The nationwide expansion will see Trader Joe’s move deeper into Washington D.C. and Staten Island, New York, a nod to the chain’s roots which date back to Pasadena in 1967. The company is beloved for its quirky white-label products, affordable pricing, and friendly customer service.

The new stores will feel at home in the area, which already boasts a thriving supermarket scene with various options from warehouse-style stores to specialty markets. However, Trader Joe’s has not released information on why specific locations were chosen, citing criteria such as population density, traffic patterns, and parking availability.

While customers’ pleas for a Trader Joe’s in their area are often disregarded by the company, fans of the chain can look forward to familiar elements like team members in aloha shirts, an impressive frozen section, and coveted tote bags. The company is known for its signature murals and notoriously busy parking lots, setting high expectations for the new locations.
