Tram Collision in Strasbourg Leaves at Least Five Fighting for Lives

A devastating train collision has left at least five people fighting for their lives and dozens more injured after two trams crashed in the French city of Strasbourg on Saturday. Emergency crews are responding to the scene at Gare Centrale station, where around 50 people are believed to have been hurt.

The accident occurred when one of the trams switched tracks and collided with a stationary tram in a tunnel, causing severe damage to both vehicles. Mayor Jeanne Barseghian described the incident as a “brutal collision,” but has not yet confirmed whether the driver was responsible for the accident.

Local reports suggest that one person has died, but this has not been officially confirmed. The cause of the crash is still being investigated by authorities.

Security at the scene has been increased with numerous ambulances and police presence, while footage shared on social media shows chaotic scenes with injured people lying on the ground and others rushing to help those inside the trains. A large security perimeter has been set up in front of the station.
