A serious tram collision occurred in Strasbourg, France, on Saturday, resulting in dozens of injuries but no critical ones. The accident took place during the afternoon in a tunnel near the city’s central train station, and authorities reported that 130 firefighters responded to the scene. Of those injured, around 50 people were left with relative emergencies, including scalp wounds, clavicle fractures, and knee sprains.
The cause of the collision remains unclear but local media suggested one tram was reversing at the time of the incident. Mayor Jeanne Barseghian described it as a “brutal collision” and thanked emergency responders for their efforts. Cleanup operations continued Saturday evening, with residents advised to avoid the area around the train station.
