Coachella headliner Travis Scott’s late-night performance has cost the festival organizer, Goldenvoice, a hefty fine of $20,000. According to reports, Scott’s set began 5 minutes late due to Green Day’s fireworks mishap, which ran 15 minutes behind schedule.
Goldenvoice and the city of Indio have a contractual agreement that outlines a daily penalty of $20,000 for every 5 minutes past curfew. The fine was issued on April 12, during Scott’s set, and is collected for the city’s General Fund to aid in public works and law enforcement costs.
Despite the late start, Travis Scott delivered an impressive performance, premiering two new tracks and starting his set at 11:30 PM. However, the extra time taken to secure the stage ultimately came with a cost. The fine marks the only infraction against Goldenvoice across both Coachella weekends and Stagecoach festival, which took place on April 25-27.
