President-elect Donald Trump will be serenaded by Carrie Underwood at his 2025 swearing-in ceremony. Underwood will sing “America the Beautiful” before Trump takes the oath of office, accompanied by the Armed Forces Chorus and the United States Naval Academy Glee Club.
Other notable performances include opera singer Christopher Macchio singing the national anthem, Lee Greenwood performing alongside choirs from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and the United States Marine Band. Kid Rock, The Village People, Billy Ray Cyrus, and Jason Aldean are set to perform at various celebrations over the weekend.
In contrast to his 2017 inaugural event, Trump’s team has managed to secure big-name talent for this year’s ceremony. Notably, rapper Nelly will make a performance at one of the glitzy events, while Liberty University’s Praise Choir and choirs from Rascal Flatts and Gavin DeGraw are also on the bill.
A comparison can be made with previous inaugurations, including former President Barack Obama’s 2009 ceremony, which featured Aretha Franklin singing “My Country, ‘Tis of Thee.” Trump’s 2017 inaugural event had a more limited lineup, following a divisive election and backlash from fans. In contrast, President Biden’s 2021 inauguration took place during the COVID-19 pandemic, with performances moving online due to safety concerns.
