The US government is cutting dozens of jobs from a unit called 18F within the General Services Administration (GSA). 18F, a technology development team, created software and products for various federal agencies to improve efficiency and public services. The decision was made by top-level leadership in both the administration and GSA, according to an email sent by Thomas Shedd, the director of Technology Transformation Services. The cut affects around 20-30 employees who worked on projects including the IRS’s free tax filing software and passport services. More changes are expected in the future.
