Trump and Musk To Launch Private Space Missions Amid Global Excitement

A Trump administration influenced by Elon Musk is expected to boost privately funded space missions globally. Max Haot, CEO of Vast Space, said he’s hopeful for a surge in space exploration under the new US president. Mars could be reached within the coming years using SpaceX’s Starship rocket.

Mr Haot praised the UAE and Saudi Arabia for their advanced emerging space programmes. He expects a major push on Mars with the new administration. “We’ll see what happens in the next few hours, days, weeks,” he said. “From our point of view, there’s a lot of excitement on what’s to come.”

The industry will benefit globally under a Trump administration, according to Anna Hazlett, founder of AzurX. She expects more innovation, streamlined regulations, and public-private partnerships.

Mr Musk has previously stated that an uncrewed mission to Mars could take place as early as 2026, with crewed missions potentially following in subsequent years. The technology is already available, but focus and execution are needed.

The Starship programme suffered a setback last week when one of its rockets exploded after taking off on a test flight. However, Vast Space remains optimistic about the future of space exploration. The company has plans for the world’s first commercial space station, Haven-1, which could be launched as early as this year.
