Trump and Zelenskyy Trade Barbs Over War with Russia

US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy exchanged harsh words on Wednesday, escalating tensions between the two leaders over the ongoing war in Ukraine.

Zelenskyy accused Trump of living in a “disinformation space” created by Russia, while Trump labeled Zelenskyy as a “dictator without elections.” The exchange came after Trump’s comments that Ukraine was to blame for the war, which has entered its third year.

Trump had shown little patience for Ukraine’s concerns about being excluded from talks with top American and Russian diplomats. He also made claims that Zelenskyy’s approval rating is low, despite the Ukrainian president’s efforts to maintain public trust.

Despite the escalating tensions, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer expressed support for Ukraine’s democratic legitimacy.

Ukrainian President Zelenskyy met with US special envoy Keith Kellogg on Wednesday, expressing hopes that a possible peace agreement would include security commitments from the US to keep Russia at bay.

The war in eastern Ukraine continues to intensify, with Ukrainian forces facing a relentless onslaught by Russian troops.
