US President-elect Donald Trump has announced a $20 billion foreign investment to build new data centers across the US. The investment is being pledged by Emirati billionaire Hussain Sajwani, who founded property development company DAMAC Properties and is a Trump associate.
Sajwani plans to invest at least $20 billion in the first phase of the project, with the potential for even more depending on market conditions. The initial sites will be located in Texas, Arizona, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Ohio, Illinois, Michigan, and Indiana.
Sajwani attributed his decision to Trump’s election victory, stating that it brought “amazing news” for him and his family. Softbank CEO Masayoshi Son has also announced plans to invest $100 billion in the US over Trump’s four-year term, along with creating 100,000 jobs.
As part of his efforts to attract foreign investment, Trump is offering incentives such as expedited permits for those who commit to investing $1 billion or more.
