Trump Announces Plan to Feed Gaza’s Starving Population

US President Donald Trump has announced plans to help feed people in Gaza, citing reports of starvation in the region. He told Axios in a phone call that the US wants to “help people” and get them fed, describing it as something that should have happened a long time ago.

However, Trump also blamed Hamas for stealing and selling aid that entered the Gaza Strip. The White House envoy Steve Witkoff and Ambassador Mike Huckabee visited aid centers in Gaza on Friday, which is backed by the US and Israel.

The new plan is reportedly aimed at providing more aid to Gaza through organizations like the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF). It’s unclear whether this will involve increased funding for GHF or other aid mechanisms.

Trump has previously said that he thinks there is starvation in Gaza and has committed to increasing US aid. However, he also expects other Western countries and Israel to do their part. The Israeli government has faced international pressure over limiting aid to Gaza and channeling it through GHF, which requires Palestinians to make dangerous journeys to receive food.

The latest developments come as negotiations for a ceasefire and hostage deal have stalled. Trump declined to comment on the possibility of moving from an incremental deal to a comprehensive agreement, saying “you will see soon.”
