US President Donald Trump has called for the end of a bipartisan $52 billion semiconductor subsidy program, which he claims is “horrible” and unfair. The program, known as the Chips Act, was enacted by his predecessor Joe Biden’s administration and has already spurred over $400 billion in investments from major companies such as Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. and Intel Corp. Trump suggested that instead of continuing the subsidy program, Congress use the remaining funds to address the national debt.
