Trump Excludes Nikki Haley and Mike Pompeo from Incoming Administration

President-elect Donald J. Trump announced on his social media platform that he will not invite former Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley or former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to join his incoming administration.

The move is seen as a sign of Trump’s decision-making process as he navigates ideological differences within the Republican Party. Trump has already begun his first formal transition meetings and is building his new cabinet.

By excluding Pompeo and Haley, Trump is rejecting two Republicans who had supported US aid for Ukraine, despite his own push to curtail such aid. He also appears to be turning away officials who had criticized him in the past, including those from his own administration.

Pompeo was seen as a potential threat due to his advocacy for military action and criticism of Trump’s fiscal policies. Haley, on the other hand, had spoken out against Trump’s campaign rhetoric during the presidential election, citing its impact on women and minorities.

Both Pompeo and Haley eventually endorsed Trump’s nomination after dropping out of the Republican primary. However, Trump has decided not to invite them to join his administration, marking a significant step in shaping his team for the incoming term.
