Trump Eyes Greenland Acquisition

President-elect Donald Trump’s allies in the House GOP are moving forward with plans to allow him to negotiate the purchase of Greenland from Denmark. The “Make Greenland Great Again Act” has been introduced by Rep. Andy Ogles, R-Tenn., which would authorize Trump to enter talks with Denmark after his inauguration.

The bill, backed by 10 fellow Republicans, aims to facilitate the acquisition and would require Trump to notify Congress of any agreements reached within five days. This move is seen as a strategic attempt to strengthen America’s national security interests in the region, particularly given its proximity to Russia.

Trump has publicly expressed interest in acquiring Greenland, citing its strategic location and potential economic benefits. His comments have been met with support from some Republicans, who argue that it would be an essential move for the country’s foreign policy goals. A similar bill was introduced last week by Rep. Dusty Johnson, R-S.D., to allow Trump to purchase the Panama Canal.
