The Trump Gold Card visa has officially launched with a discounted price tag of $1 million, down from its original $5 million. This significant discount is seen as a sign of low demand for the program by immigration experts.
President Trump announced the launch on social media and claimed that applicants could receive U.S. residency in record time. However, experts are skeptical about the program’s prospects due to the substantial price cut.
“This is an admission of failure if they cut the price by 80%,” said Nuri Katz, founder of Apex Capital Partners. The revamped website invites applicants to join a waiting list for a new $5 million Trump Platinum Card, which would grant more favorable terms than the original visa program.
The Trump Gold Card is distinct from existing immigrant investment programs like the EB-5 visa, which requires an investment of between $800,000 and $1 million. To be implemented, Congress must create new immigration and tax laws.
Critics argue that the significant discount is a sign of low demand for the program, making it uncertain whether the Trump Gold Card will replace the existing EB-5 program.
