Trump Names 5 Cryptocurrencies for US Strategic Reserve

US President Donald Trump has announced that five cryptocurrencies will be part of a new strategic reserve, owned by the US government. The chosen tokens are XRP, SOL, ADA, Bitcoin, and Ether.

XRP is created by Ripple and is the world’s third-largest cryptocurrency, with $140 billion in circulation. Its price soared after Trump’s announcement, while Ripple has been involved in lobbying efforts for the crypto industry.

SOL, which runs on the Solana blockchain, is the sixth-largest cryptocurrency, with around $73 billion worth of tokens in circulation. Its value plummeted in 2022 due to its association with former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried.

ADA, running on the Cardano blockchain, is the eighth-largest cryptocurrency, with $31.4 billion in circulation. Its price surged after Trump’s announcement, despite its volatility.

Bitcoin and Ether are also included in the reserve, with Bitcoin being the first and largest cryptocurrency, worth around $86,000 per unit, and Ether trading at a fraction of Bitcoin’s price but still being the second-largest cryptocurrency.
