US President Donald Trump has suggested he would pay overtime for astronauts Barry “Butch” Wilmore and Sunita “Suni” Williams, who were stranded on the International Space Station (ISS) for nine months after their initial eight-day mission. The astronauts received $5 per diem each day in space, amounting to $1,430 in extra pay. Trump stated he would cover this cost out of his own pocket if necessary. He also praised Elon Musk’s SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule that rescued the astronauts and expressed gratitude towards Musk for his role in their successful return.
