Trump Proposes High-Level Talks with Iran via Oman

US President-elect Donald Trump has proposed high-level talks with Iran through Oman on issues including the nuclear file, according to a source close to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian’s administration. The proposal suggests Trump is willing to negotiate with Tehran and potentially reach a new nuclear agreement different from the 2015 deal he withdrew from in 2018.

Trump plans to receive a response within a few months on Iran’s willingness to engage in negotiations, with the nuclear issue being a top priority. Iranian diplomat Seyyed Hossein Mousavian had previously stated that Trump may propose direct talks shortly after taking office, but warned there are no guarantees the US would adhere to any agreement reached.

The proposal marks a significant development in the ongoing diplomatic efforts between the two nations, and could potentially pave the way for a new era of cooperation.
