US President Donald Trump has made a statement on his Truth Social platform, claiming that singer Taylor Swift is no longer “hot”. Trump wrote this after a series of public feuds between the two, which began in 2018. Swift has since endorsed Democratic candidates and party officials, including former Vice President Kamala Harris.
Trump’s post comes as he continues his trip to the Middle East, despite facing criticism over his handling of issues such as birthright citizenship. The singer has been open about her views on politics, endorsing Democrats in her home state of Tennessee and later supporting Harris for president.
The relationship between Trump and Swift has been strained since 2018, when Trump claimed that Swift’s music was “not great” and that she did not know much about Senator Marsha Blackburn. In response to his support for Swift’s campaign as a Republican candidate in 2020, Swift posted an image of herself endorsing Joe Biden.
Swift addressed her fears surrounding AI-generated misinformation after posting about the endorsement on Truth Social. Trump had claimed he created the images himself but later admitted someone else generated them.
Swift’s music and tour have been successful, with her Eras Tour setting a record for the music industry’s first $2 billion tour. She is also worth around $1.6 billion. The Supreme Court hearing on birthright citizenship has sparked controversy, with Trump claiming that justices are being “played by the radical left losers”.
Trump is due to return to the US late Friday and will continue his Middle East tour.
