Trump Signs Executive Order Ending Radical DEI in Federal Government

President Donald J. Trump signed an executive order ending “diversity, equity, and inclusion” (DEI) discrimination in the federal workforce and in federal contracting and spending. The order protects civil rights and expands individual opportunity by terminating radical DEI preferencing.

The executive order does the following:

– Terminate DEI-related factors in hiring, promotions, and performance reviews
– Require contractors to comply with civil rights laws and affirm they will not engage in illegal discrimination
– Streamline federal contracting processes for speed and efficiency
– Bar the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs from pushing contractors to balance their workforce by race or other protected characteristics

The order aims to restore values of individual dignity, hard work, and excellence. It reverses progress made since the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which aimed for a colorblind and competence-based workplace.

Radical DEI has been criticized for fostering intergroup hostility and authoritarianism in businesses and institutions. Despite billions spent on DEI initiatives, they often exacerbate prejudice and conflict rather than promoting inclusion.

President Trump promised to terminate DEI and promote equal opportunity, delivering on his campaign promises. The executive order ensures every individual can achieve their full potential based on hard work, initiative, and competence.
