Trump Slams NYT Reporters for Alleged ‘Fake News’

President Donald Trump has attacked two New York Times reporters who cover his presidency, accusing them of making up information from a top-secret meeting in the Situation Room. The reports suggest that Trump administration officials considered suspending habeas corpus and strategizing on how to handle the Jeffrey Epstein scandal during the meeting.

Trump criticized reporter Maggie Haberman, calling her “third-rate” and claiming she has made a “first-rate income” because of his presidency. He also referenced their book, “Regime Change,” which includes direct quotes from high-ranking officials, including Vice President Mike Pence and acting Attorney General Todd Blanche.

Haberman and fellow reporter Jonathan Swan have defended the legitimacy of their reporting, but they have not commented on whether they were provided with audio tapes of the meeting. Some administration officials, including Pence, have expressed concerns about potential recordings.

The New York Times reporters have previously done extensive reporting on the Trump White House and interviewed the president himself. Their book has generated significant interest and controversy, with many questioning the accuracy of their claims.
