US President Donald Trump has accused Japan and China of manipulating their currencies to lower their values, hinting that he could impose fresh tariffs on Tokyo if this practice is not stopped.
In a news conference at the White House, Trump suggested that using tariffs as a solution to address currency manipulation. He also made calls to Chinese President Xi Jinping and Japanese leaders, warning them against reducing and breaking down their currencies.
Trump stated that while tariffs are not the only option, they are an effective way to bring fairness and efficiency to trade policies. However, it remains to be seen whether his threats will lead to any concrete action from Japan and China.
