Trump to Meet with Macron and Starmer Amid Ukraine Peace Talks

US President Donald Trump will meet with French President Emmanuel Macron and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer in his fifth week back at the Oval Office, amid efforts to broker a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine.

The announcement comes after Macron called for an emergency meeting of world leaders due to the exclusion of Europe from the negotiating table in discussions between Ukraine and Russia.

Trump’s administration has been working with Ukrainian President Vlodomyr Zelenskyy, US National Security Adviser Mike Waltz, UK Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Saudi Envoy Steve Witkoff to find ways to end the conflict. However, Ukraine was absent from recent negotiations in Riyadh.

Macron has expressed concerns that Trump’s remarks on Zelenskyy have alarmed European leaders who have backed Ukraine throughout the war. The French President stated that he will take a tough tone with Trump during their meeting, emphasizing that peace talks should include Ukraine’s input.

UK Prime Minister Starmer also emphasized the importance of Ukrainian participation in any peace discussions, stating that there cannot be talks without Ukraine and its people having a long-term secure future.

The White House claims that a peace deal could be reached as soon as this week, with press secretary Karoline Leavitt stating that Trump’s team is focused on continuing negotiations with both sides to end the conflict.
