The Philadelphia Eagles became Super Bowl champions after defeating the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 in February. The team celebrated by visiting the White House, where a surprise twist took place.
President Donald Trump’s visit to the Eagles was overshadowed when he made it about Taylor Swift, who attended the game in support of Chiefs player Travis Kelce. Trump had previously shown support for the Chiefs but his response to their loss was unusual.
After the Super Bowl, Trump tweeted that Swift got “BOOED out of the Stadium” and claimed MAGA is “very unforgiving.” However, when he visited the White House, Trump shared side-by-side videos showing people cheering for him while booing Swift, attempting to skew perception.
The Eagles players who did not visit the White House, including quarterback Jalen Hurts, cited scheduling conflicts. Trump had previously offered an invitation for the Chiefs to visit the White House in 2020 due to Covid restrictions when the Eagles were unable to attend.
