President-elect Donald Trump has begun to assemble his post-Biden Cabinet, making key appointments in several key areas.
One of Trump’s most significant moves is the potential reclamation of the Panama Canal. A senior Trump appointee described this plan as a way to signal an end to decades of US financing for China’s growth and strategic foothold in the Americas.
Trump has also made several other notable selections, including Kash Patel as FBI Director, who will replace Christopher Wray at the end of Biden’s administration. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is set to lead the Department of Health and Human Services, while Pam Bondi may be nominated for attorney general after Matt Gaetz withdrew his bid.
The President-elect has also announced plans to create a new “Department of Government Efficiency” with Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy at its helm. This commission aims to cut government spending and regulation.
Trump has promised executive orders aimed at imposing tariffs on imported goods from China, Mexico, and Canada. He also plans to close the Education Department, a move supported by many Republicans.
