Trump Vows US Will ‘Take’ Gaza Amid Middle East Tensions

US President Donald Trump has reaffirmed his plan to take ownership of the Gaza Strip, despite initial suggestions that a monetary transaction would be necessary. In a meeting with Jordan’s King Abdullah II in the Oval Office, Trump stated that “we’re going to have Gaza” and expressed optimism about creating jobs for Palestinians living in the war-torn territory.

Trump cited poor living conditions in Gaza, including destroyed buildings and frequent violence, as reasons why Palestinians would want to leave. He claimed that life in Gaza is unbearable and compared it unfavorably to any other country in the world.

King Abdullah II avoided directly contradicting Trump’s plan but hinted at a need for further discussion. He mentioned plans to bring Arab leaders to the White House to discuss the issue, as well as a meeting in Saudi Arabia in the coming weeks.

The Jordanian king also expressed openness to accepting some Palestinian refugees within his borders, including 2,000 children receiving medical treatment. However, he refused to comment on whether Jordan would accept more refugees in general, citing a need to consider what is best for his country’s interests.
