Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Tulsi Gabbard, and Kash Patel testified before Senate committees on Capitol Hill as urgency builds to confirm President Donald Trump’s Cabinet nominations. The nominees faced tough questions from Democratic senators over key issues such as abortion and vaccines.
Kennedy, nominated for secretary of Health and Human Services, clashed with Democrats on Wednesday before the Senate Finance Committee. He will face his second day of questioning today.
Patel, nominee for FBI director, appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee, while Gabbard, nominated for national intelligence director, faced the Senate Intelligence Committee.
Other nominees, including Daniel Driscoll for Army secretary and Brooke Rollins for Agriculture secretary, have already testified but await committee votes. Confirmation requires a majority of 51 votes in the Senate, with Vice President JD Vance holding the tiebreaker.
So far, eight Trump Cabinet nominations have been confirmed by the Senate, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
