Country music star Carrie Underwood will perform “America the Beautiful” at Donald Trump’s inauguration next week, while American disco group the Village People will perform at two inaugural events. The 1970s hitmakers are set to play their signature song “Y.M.C.A.” at a rally held by the president-elect in Washington.
Underwood, who rose to fame on “American Idol,” expressed her honor and commitment to performing at the inauguration. She stated that she believes music can bring people together during difficult times.
The Village People’s performance will be part of Trump’s inaugural celebrations, which include a reception and fireworks display at Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Virginia, as well as a campaign-style rally in downtown Washington.
Other performers scheduled for the inauguration events include country singer Lee Greenwood and opera singer Christopher Macchio. The presidential parade after Trump is sworn in will feature about 7,500 participants, including first responders and school marching bands.
Trump’s second inauguration is expected to be a different event from his first, with a focus on unity and celebration of American strength. Vice President-elect JD Vance will attend a reception for the incoming Cabinet members and host a dinner.
