Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC) has confirmed that all its sites are operating following a 6.4 magnitude earthquake in southern Taiwan. The quake caused only minor damage and light injuries, with 27 people treated in hospital.
In response to the earthquake, TSMC had evacuated workers at some sites as a precautionary measure. However, structural inspections have been completed, and all operations have resumed. The company’s water supply, power, and workplace safety systems are functioning normally, according to an emailed statement.
TSMC’s construction sites were unaffected by the earthquake, with regular operations continuing after environmental safety checks. The damage from the quake was limited, and electricity has been restored for households impacted by blackouts.
Taiwan is prone to earthquakes due to its location near the junction of two tectonic plates. The country’s last major earthquake occurred in April, a 7.2 magnitude temblor that killed 13 people.
