Tulane University announced Sunday that men’s basketball player Gregg Glenn III has died in a tragic accident while swimming off the coast of Miami with a friend. The 22-year-old senior, who was expected to be a key player for the team this season, was found deceased.
Glenn played all 34 games last season and averaged 10.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game. He was a talented student-athlete who enriched the lives of those around him with his spirit, dedication, and passion for both sports and academics.
The Green Wave team is devastated by Glenn’s passing, according to coach Ron Hunter. “He was an exceptional athlete but also a remarkable person who brought energy, dedication, and kindness to our team and community,” Hunter said in a statement. “Gregg’s spirit and passion will be deeply missed, and our thoughts are with his family and friends during this difficult time.”
Glenn had been highly recruited out of high school and played for Michigan before transferring to Tulane. He was rated the 90th overall prospect in the country by 247Sports and was known for his versatile skills as a ball-handler, passer, and post player.
