Turkey Ski Resort Fire Leaves 66 Dead, Over 50 Injured

A devastating fire at Turkey’s Kartalkaya ski resort has left at least 66 people dead and over 51 injured. The blaze erupted on Tuesday morning at the 12-story hotel in the Köroğlu Mountains, with reports suggesting it started in the fourth-floor restaurant before spreading rapidly.

Emergency services were dispatched to the scene, but their arrival was delayed due to the remote location and harsh winter conditions. By the time they arrived, two people had jumped from the building, resulting in fatal injuries.

Witnesses described hearing people shouting for help from windows as guests attempted to escape. Rescue workers brought ropes and other supplies to aid those trapped, before firefighters took over.

Turkish officials have extended condolences to the victims’ families and expressed hope for the recovery of the injured. The government has launched an investigation into the cause of the blaze and vowed to hold those responsible accountable.

The incident is ongoing, with crews continuing to clear the smoldering site and assess the full extent of the damage.
