Saber Interactive’s upcoming title, Turok: Origins, has been confirmed to have choppy performance on the Xbox Series S during its presentation at Gamescom 2025. The game director, Jesús Iglesias, stated that the Xbox Series S cannot run Turok: Origins at a stable 60 FPS. However, it is expected to perform well on the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions.
Turok: Origins will feature a mix of single-player and co-op gameplay, where players can take on various enemies including aliens and dinosaurs. The game boasts an extensive arsenal of weaponry that can be upgraded by collecting DNA samples from defeated foes, unlocking new abilities and expanding the types of threats players can face.
The title is being developed for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S using Unreal Engine 5, with a release date yet to be confirmed. In contrast to previous games in the franchise, Turok: Origins will focus on co-op gameplay, making it different from its predecessors that emphasized linear level design and fast-paced action.
Iglesias noted that Saber Interactive aims to create a “respectful” revival of the franchise, citing similarities with their other co-op shooter, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. The developer hopes that the game’s compelling narrative and great single-player and co-op gameplay will appeal to players who enjoyed Space Marine 2.
